Phare Circus is more than a conventional acrobatic circus. The artists create and perform stories based on their own life experiences. Drawing from recent history, folklore and modern society, the artists blend drama, dance, live music and circus arts to share a part of their lives with audiences. The performers come from unimaginably difficult social and economic background. They discover and develop their skills at Phare Ponleu Selpak non-profit school. They are able to earn a good living and transform their lives at Phare Circus, breaking the cycle of poverty. NOTE: Phare Insider guests should arrive by 6:15pm for the backstage visit to the artist, technician and costume work areas.

Absolutely fantastic show that kept you on your toes. The stunts and circus acts were very entertaining. The performers were engaging and did a great job with crowd work. The cause of Phare Circus is also awe inspiring and would highly recommend to add to your list of activities when visiting Siem Reap. Might I say the local food available for purchase pre-event was delicious!

The definition of circus is very different in Cambodia! This performance was more dance than circus with weird cultural references like the opening act where it looked as though gnats were mating. Then came a strange dance with brooms sporting googly eyes. There was some strength work and lots of tumbling. There were two average, but quick, juggling acts and that was about it. The main act consisted of all the performers being murdered either through twisting their necks or being kicked or punched to death. The murderous performer was then killed by his boss. An absolutely horrific 10 minutes in a 60-minute show! If your children are into gratuitous violence and sustained horror, then you will love it. For us Australians, particularly when we come from the home of the world class Flying Fruit Fly Circus, the whole performance was pretty poor. A couple of great short acts like the balancing on pipes and some aerial tosses could not make up for a truly disappointing experience. At $18USD for the cheap seats, you can find much better value entertainment elsewhere.

Brilliant evening watching some incredibly talented performers! Well worth a trip ???? the show was entertaining and absorbing!
