  • Choeung Ek Genocidal Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
    Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rogue, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years, they massacred and buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a museum and a reminder of darker days. Your guide will return you to your hotel or guesthouse.

  • Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
    The most notorious of the 189 known interrogation centers in Cambodia was S-21, housed in a former school and now called Tuol Sleng for the hill on which it stands. Between 14,000 and 17,000 prisoners were detained, tortured there, often in primitive brick cells built in former classrooms.

My partner and I did this tour with Mr Rouen and would highly recommend him for this tour due to his personal experience living through the time of the Khmer Rouge. You could tell that the experiences from this time, and the aftermath really affected not just Mr Rouen but all those that had to endure this regime. A very moving day and let’s hope that things like this never happen again.

Really pleased that we went with this tour for our trip to the killing fields and genocide museum. What was clearly a difficult and emotional trip was made much more informative by our brilliant tour guide Sam. He was very friendly and chatty, had great English and was very knowledgeable. The driver was also great. Would thoroughly recommend.
