Firstly, this tour was excellent. The tour guide (Gonzalo) and driver (Wilbur) were fantastic. Nothing but good things to say about them. The tour is a good value, so one can expect to pay for the “extras” along the way. You will pay for the entry fee into Chichen Itzá ($15 USD, MXN $300 per person) and life vest/locker rentals at the cenote (max $15 USD, MXN $300 for both) if you choose to swim. This is not a surprise if you read the tour details. The only improvements would be less of a sales pitch for the Mayan souvenirs and could skip the last stop at Valladolid to get back to Tulum earlier. That said, the Mayan “tourist trap” does support the local schools and population. One can always say no and spend nothing there. Lunch is included. Drinks, like water, are not part of the package. Just like the rest of Mexico (and Europe, for that matter), you have to buy them. So either bring your own or expect to purchase on the way. Great value, comfortable bus accommodations, and great guide for the entire trip. I would highly recommend this tour for those who know what they are getting.
