We will begin our tour at the European Solidarity Centre, which is one of the most modern museums in Poland. There, you’ll have the opportunity to learn all there is to know about Gdansk’s recent history. Next, we will visit the Lenin gates which were famously climbed by Lech Walesa – the Nobel-prize winner and icon of the Solidarity movement. We will also make a stop at the Monument of the Fallen Shipyard Workers. Finally, we’ll explore less-visited areas of the shipyards, such as the docks and old warehouses, which are currently being repurposed and turned into modern clubs and galleries.

    A unique place, a monument of history and a must-see on our route. At this point the leader of Solidarity, Lech Wałęsa, signed the Gdańsk Agreement with the contemporary authorities of the People's Republic of Poland.

  • Gdansk Shipyard, Gdansk, Poland
    We will go through the former shipyard area to feel the atmosphere of the place. Today, the shipyard, although still functioning, is changing before our eyes. Trendy clubs, galleries and new entertainment centers are created here.

We loved the whole experience from start to finish. Sebastian is hugely knowledgeable and his easy-going style conveyed the Solidarnosc story hugely better than if we had just walked around the museum reading the exhibits. The second half of his tour, where we walked through the original Shipyard area was a great bonus. He was very attentive to our questions and gave careful and clear explanations and he also noticed my desire to get good photos, so took us to special vantage points which we would never have known about otherwise.

The Solidarity private tour with Sebastian was worth every penny. Very comprehensive and you’re able to ask questions along the way. Sebastian is amazing. Highly recommend this very emotional, important period in Europe’s history eliminating Communism. Poland started it making way for other countries. It’s very complicated and a must to learn what happened.

i wanted to cycle around the city for a day with my partner. tourist information sent us to 'poland by locals' and we were taken by surprise. we asked all sorts of questions. they had bounty of replies. we studied places where to go on a paper map with their help. we got ideas where to find lea markets, and so much on. laughter run the show. we felt taken care of and loved with 'poland by locals'
