Mr. Shuttle provides a useful shuttle service from Gdańsk (via the Musement web site) to the concentration camp. Musement are very responsive and helpful: they promptly agreed to move the date of my tour when my plans changed and I was promptly refunded when the operator cancelled my tour due to lack of numbers. You also get a reminder of your tour along with them resending your voucher the day before which is a nice touch.
I only found out the evening before that my tour was cancelled via SMS from Mr. Shuttle. I texted back asking if there were confirmed departures on other dates, and was able to visit on another day. But be aware that if your time in Gdańsk is limited and you have booked other activities, that your tour of the camp might be cancelled last minute. In that case, you can Uber to the camp for about $45 (45 minute drive) and ask the driver to wait for you for about two hours as there are no taxis or public transportation near the camp.
Note too that while the tour is advertised to leave from the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre at 9 AM, with free pick up offered at your hotel between 8-9 AM, if you opt to be picked up at the Shakespeare Theatre starting point, pick up is at 8 AM and the driver then goes and picks up other pax at their hotels. As you are the first in the minibus, you will be asked to sit in the more uncomfortable back seats to make room for the guests being picked up at the hotels. I felt pretty silly having opted to be picked up at the default pick up spot thinking I would get a bit more sleep, only to find the minibus pulling up at my hotel to pick up other guests after me!
I therefore recommend that you ask to be picked up at your hotel when making the booking. (Enter hotel name in booking). Mr. Shuttle will advise you by SMS the afternoon the day before your tour what time they are picking you up at your hotel.
This tour includes a two hour comprehensive visit of the camp in English. They aim to be at the camp by 9 AM for the start of the tour. Marek, the English speaking camp guide, has a wealth of information about the camp and his English is decent. Note that without a guide you won’t learn as much as most of the exhibits are in Polish only.
You will be back in Gdańsk at about 12 PM.
Mr. Shuttle should clarify the pick up times in Gdańsk and make clear that the tour of the camp departs at 9 AM at Stutthof and not in Gdańsk, but other than that, he provides a useful service to a camp that is not accessible via public transportation.
