Among the most visited sites in Italy, Pompeii was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The site is an example of how everyday life was lived in ancient Rome in the 1st century AD, before the city was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius. I am so glad I booked this tour. Often I opt to go on my own without a guide when I travel, but in this case I booked this tour and it was worth the money and the time. I got good communication from the company owner, Elizabeth, who instructed me online how to find the group, where to store my bag,etc. She was extremely responsive and responsible and answered all my questions. But the star of the show was Roberto, our guide. He was knowledgeable, funny, engaging with the group and able to relate to everyone, whatever their level.
