Before starting the climb, you can visit one of the info points of the Vesuvius National Park where you can receive useful information about the protected area and buy a map. From the Piazzale you can already enjoy a splendid view of the northern side of Mount Somma with the cognoli of Sant'Anastasia and Punta Nasone, the top of the ancient volcano which 1,132 metres high, opposite the cognoli of Ottaviano and Levante. While looking upwards, you can hold your breath and see from below what will be the ascent to the bottom edge of Sterminator Vesevo.

Tony took us around Pompeii and Herculaneum and we had an amazing day, he was amazing and knew everything about the sites and could answer every question. He kept the tour entertaining and showed us a delicious restaurant as well near by. As well he was funny and full of passion to teach us everything . Definitely would recommend this tour to anyone solo, family or in a group.

I don’t often leave reviews unless the service was terrible or brilliant. This one certainly falls into the brilliant category. I had great communication from Tony from the start. He was helpful in suggesting times to book the entry tickets. He was at the hotel early, in a lovey clean Mercedes van. During the drive to the first place he gave us the option of him leaving us in peace, or giving us information about the local area and Pompeii. We chose to tap in to his vast knowledge (why would you not?). He was very engaging and knowledgable. He clearly has a great passion for what he does and it certainly comes across. During the tours he knew where to go and when to avoid most of the crowds. He was also brilliant with our 8 year old, keeping him engaged the entire time. If you get the chance to book with Tony, do so. You won’t regret it. P.S. Dear Tony. Grazie for an amazing day and tonnes of entertainment. I had an amazing time. Good luck for all your future tours. A private tour of Pompei, Herculaneum and Vesuvius is a great way to do it, especially when one of the party doesn’t travel too well. We were picked up from our hotel and driven smoothly around by Antonio in a large comfortable vehicle for the day. At Pompei and Herculaneum we had an amazing guide, Alona, who was full of energy and shared so much interesting information about these incredible sites which should be on every bucket list. Finally, we climbed to the summit of Vesuvius where the incredible views into the crater and back down over the bay of Naples and over to Sorrento were well worth the hot climb up! A great day for the family and an amazing way to wrap up our Italian holiday, all expertly managed by Antonino who was sadly taken ill and unable to drive us, but quickly arranged cover so we didn’t miss out - communications ahead of our experience were excellent. Not a cheap tour but highly recommended.
