The tour is made comfortably in a jeep Land Rover properly equipped for the purpose and is perfect for those who want to have a off-road experience in São Miguel Island. With the highest concentration of lakes on the island, The Volcanic Complex of Sete Cidades is a charming place for nature lovers. On this jeep tour you´ll be visiting Lagoa das Empadadas, Cumeeira Grande, Muro das Nove Janelas, Sete Cidades village and Vista do Rei Viewpoint. NOTE: a minimum of 2 persons is required.

    In this stop you will get to know the parish of the Sete Cidades and the church of São Nicolau. This is where the famous lake of the Sete Cidades is located.

    This is the stop that everyone is waiting for. The wonderful viewpoint of Vista do Rei, which gives you a magnificent view over the large and amazing lake of the Sete Cidades.

My jeep tour of Sete Cidades was guided by David, from Azores For All, and was the highlight of my 11 day tour of 4 Azorean islands. Accompanying David and me in the jeep was a young Deaf couple from Spain, who used some Spanish, and Spanish Sign Language to communicate. Sound awkward? Not a bit. David is a true professional, who managed a comprehensive exchange of geographic, historic, and cultural information with all three passengers while negotiating a breath-taking and heart-stopping drive around the rim of Sete Cidades. We saw the caldera, the craters and lakes from every possible angle. The views were stunning, but the bonding experience David provided for a retired American lady and a lovely Deaf Spanish couple....priceless!
