    The corner stone was unveiled in 1900 by king Carlos I on the site of the former convent S. Bento de Avé Maria (Saint Benedict of Hail Mary). The initial project was designed by architect Marques da Silva with its external lines demonstrating then contemporary French influences.

    On the 17th December 1921, an establishment called Elite café opened for business in Porto. It was located in Santa Catarina street, a pedestrian walkway for shopping and for the finest members of society, then and now. The café enlightened the street with its Art Nouveau decoration, by architect João Queiroz.
  • Torre dos Clerigos, Porto, Portugal
    The Church of Clérigos (Ecclesiastics) is a genuine baroque masterpiece dating from the mid-18th century. It was designed by Nicolau Nasoni, an architect of Italian origin. He stamped his mark on many monuments around Oporto and the north of Portugal. Nasoni, on his request, was buried here in a small chapel with its gateway at the same level as the top of the double bolster stairway.

My wife and I signed up for this walking/wine tasting session and thought it was with a group. We were both pleasantly surprised when “Paulo” called our names for a private tour. He was awesome. We could tell from the beginning that Paulo was a very proud Portuguese citizen and loved Porto and all of its history and offerings . We really learned a lot in our time together and were so glad we had this experience with Paulo. On top of being an amazing guide, he did tell us about his family when we asked and you could see what a dedicated, loving father and husband which shined through. Thank you Paulo for showing us around and for being so accommodating. We also found the restaurant recommendation was delicious Chris and Gina

I had an amazing experience on this day tour in Porto. Our guide, Anabela, was absolutely fantastic — warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate about the city. She shared so many interesting stories and historical insights that brought Porto to life in a truly special way. The itinerary was well-organized, and we had just the right balance of sightseeing, free time, and hidden gems. I left with a deeper appreciation for the culture, architecture, and charm of Porto. Highly recommended — especially if you’re lucky enough to have Anabela as your guide!
