Our guide was Pedro.
He was a really skilful guide, able to weave humour into an emotional subject for a tour.
The route was very interesting, because we went into two different medieval Jewish areas that had few other tourists.
They were very picturesque.
Although there was little in the way of actual Jewish inscriptions or structures compared to other diaspora cities, it did not matter.
Pedro was adept in helping one's imagination see the streets how they would have been 1000 years ago, busy with Jewish merchants and dock workers and thriving synagogues.
Plus the hidden synagogue of the Inquisition era.
I highly recommend this tour for Jews and non-Jews alike, to learn more about Porto's history and some of the oldest parts of the city.
