We start in Pinhão, passing under the Eiffel iron bridge, sailing up the river to the Roncão area, returning to Pinhão. You will see terraced vineyards right down to the river, in a landscape without national roads or road traffic. Although the section of river on the way back is the same, it could very well be different, as when seen from another direction it creates completely different views and landscapes. Traditional Rabelo boats have open and closed areas, allowing comfortable navigation at any time of year and weather. We had a fantastic trip up the Duoro from Pinhao to Tua. Stunning scenery, showcasing many beautiful wine estates, and the controversial Tua hydroelectric dam project. The guided commentary was via an app, and really interesting as you're able to pause or repeat. There was a bar on board selling coffee, soft drinks and wine/beer. We felt the tour was very good value for money (25 euros each), and would highly recommend it.

I had a very nice trip down the Duoro -- was a relaxing ride to Tua, the staff was very friendly, and the scenery was gorgeous. The audio guide, however, was a bit lacking only had maybe ~15 quick notes during the 2 hour ride, so its more of a relaxing ride than an informational one.

Deze boottocht duurt 2 uur. Je vertrekt vanuit Pinhão en vaart 1 uur de ene kant op en dan weer dezelfde route terug voor een uur. Je kunt een app downloaden waar je een audioguide mee kan beluisteren. Het was vaak moeilijk te horen omdat het geluid van de motor van de boot erg veel geluid maakte. De omgeving is erg mooi. Je vaart langs alle Porto boerderijen/quinta’s. Ook de bekende merken zijn te zien. Buiten dat het een mooi gezicht is, de heuvels en al het groen is het vrij saai. Vooral omdat je hetzelfde stuk terug vaart wat je dus al gezien hebt. Het kost €25 p.p.
