The gardens themselves are really nice with lots of botanical specimens. Easy to get to either by bus or by two cable cars. lovely to walk around and some great views down into Funchal. The thing which let it down for me was the toilets. WCs had seats missing and the urinals, two were covered in plastic bags . in the men's loo not only was there no seats but the flushing mechanism was broken. No toilet paper or hand towels.

Le parc du jardin Botanique 15€ ne vaut pas le jardin Tropical 10€ un peu plus haut. Il y a tout de même l'espace Cactus à voir, la vue sur l'autoroute, donc un peu bruyant et le parking tout petit. Prenez un Uber plutôt que le téléphérique, cela vous coûtera 5€ depuis le centre de Funchal.

The tuk-tuk picked us up at the port and took us to the Botanical Garden. We had an hour there to explore it on our own (no guide at the garden). We were then taken back to town and at our request dropped off at the city square. We had a great view of the city and the harbour, from the back of the tuk-tuk. Would recommend if you are looking for transportation to the garden, but not a guided tour.
