Canoeing guided tours at Furnas Lake: enjoy the nature inside the volcano. The maximum group size is 16 people, but usually we don't have more that six to eight people at a time.  For this activity, the minimum age is 6 years old and it is suitable for beginners.

Lovely, friendly and knowledgeable guide (Tiago) took us on a kayaking trip on lake furnas. Whilst the water was choppy (take spare clothes!) the views were spectacular.

This is a stunningly beautiful place to visit - but really what made it, and the whole day and trip for us, was our guide, Diogo. He is so passionate and knowledgable about nature and the Azores, and his enthusiasm is infectious! He went above and beyond to help us have an amazing trip, both in Furnas, and with several other activities (hikes, bikes, etc.). I was skeptical of having a tour guide in the first place, but Diogo's talent elevated our trip from great to world class! Wonderful company, wonderful experience. Enjoy a wonderful lunch from Tony's (cooked underground as in the picture) if you can!

10/27/2022. Our guide was personable and spoken English well, but left us alone on the lake with sit on top kayaks that were very difficult to paddle even for experienced kayakers.
