Departure from the hotel at 9:00 am towards the parish of Camacha to observe the wicker factory and all its process. Afterwards, climb to Pico do Areeiro at 1818m, where you can observe the beautiful mountains and surrounding valleys and even the parish of Curral das nuntas, deep in one of the great valleys. Descent to Ribeiro Frio, where there is a nursery of trout that later are dropped in the brook. A visit to the center of Santana is followed to observe the typical triangular houses with thatched roof, followed by another stop in Faial. Returning to Funchal, you will have two more stops, at the belvedere of Ponta de São Lourenço and Machico. Return to the hotel by 5:00 p.m.

This was a really great day out. Our tour guide Patrick was asked to take the tour last minute due to an illness. He was so knowledgeable. Such a great guy and he explained so much about the areas we visited and also the background of Madeira. I felt safe as he drove us around the island. The group was very friendly too. My husband and I both really enjoyed this tour. Can highly recommend.

Interesting activity if you want to discover some parts of the island. However, many places are not marked on their program such as the visit to the distillery of Rhum or the Cristo Rei. Our French guide was cancelled at the last moment and we had to follow explanations in English and Portuguese. During the meal we were dropped in the city of Santana in a heavy rain with only explanation of the meeting time. The bus left to park 2 km outside the city and we had no place to eat away from the wind and rain. Restaurants are present but we had planned our own food so it was impossible to take shelter without eating. We contacted customer service because the guide was unreachable and after an hour and a quarter, after discussing with them, they organized so that we could get back on the bus. The rest of the group did not get this favor. No other excursions are planned in case of bad weather, for our case we stayed on the bus a good part of the tour during stops. Also it is forbidden to eat on the bus. However, it is a good activity if the weather is favourable.

C’est la 3e fois que nous venons à Madère et la 2e fois que nous faisons cette excursion en mini-bus. Le tarif de 30 € par personne est compétitif et même mieux, si vous prenez les 2 tours (Est et Ouest), il ne vous en coûtera que 55 €. Le tour de l’est est bien conçu pour occuper la journée avec un arrêt déjeuner à Santana devant les petites maisons typiques aux toits de chaume. - Le chauffeur guide -différent de celui du tour de l’ouest- est agréable et un parfait conducteur. Notre petit groupe de 16 personnes était facile à piloter. - Avec la pointe Saint Laurent, le parc naturel de Rivière Froide et le pic d’Arieiro, ce circuit est plus sauvage que celui de l’ouest. - Un seul regret : L’arrêt prévu de 20 minutes à la plage de Machico (la seule de sable blond importé du sahara marocain) n’a pas eu lieu et c’est très regrettable ! - Ce tour de l’est est un moyen pas cher de remplir une belle journée à Madère.
