Run by passionate beekeepers João, Ana, and Tomás, this fantastic beekeeping day will literally lift the lid on beehives and show you the wonderful world of apiculture in a new and exciting way. Find out the process of how to create a honeycomb, as well as learn about the complex interactions between bee, flower, and hive that result in the delicious gooey honey we all know and love.

Our host Thomas is the real deal. Our visit to the working bee hives in the Algarve showed us how Thomas cares for the bees how they sustainably harvest honey and pollen. We were up close and personal with the bees and even got to see a queen. The bed keeper suits provide a safe and up close experience so guests can see the inner workings of the hives. After plenty of time in the hives and wild flowers ( wild lavender in May) Thomas took us for a nice picnic where we enjoyed some of the Algarves finest produce with all different types of honey to accompany each product. Such a day and a nice meal with great company from Thomas. Highly highly recommended.

Een geweldige ervaring. Tomàs neemt je volledig mee in zijn werk als imker. Hij weet alles over bijen wat hierbij komt kijken. Zijn wetenschap en passie deelt hij graag met anderen. In uitgeruste kleding ga je een kijkje nemen bij de bijen en op zoek naar de queen bee! Met geluk weet je haar te vinden. Tomàs verzorgt daarnaast een heerlijke lunch. Je krijgt een echte honing experience: lavendelhoning, carob honing, etc. De lekkerste combinaties komen voorbij. Mijn man en ik zijn honing veel meer gaan waarderen! Tomàs weet daarnaast ook veel van de Algarve. Hij neemt je mee in de historie en laat prachtige plekjes zien. Overigens zijn de plekken waar hij de bijen houdt ook bijzonder mooie plekjes in de natuur. Mocht je twijfelen, gewoon doen. Het klinkt misschien een beetje vreemd en eng, maar je hoeft je nergens zorgen over te maken! Het was een onvoorstelbare ervaring.

What a great time we had. Thomas was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was exciting to be up and close with the bees in the provided protective clothing. After we sat in a super spot, and we’re treated to delicious traditional Portuguese food drizzled with honey, which was accompanied by honey mead! What more could you ask for? 10 out of 10
