Relativt flackt. Hisnande utsikt. Mycket kunnig och humoristisk guide berättade om växtlighet och djurliv.

Our pick-up was efficient, certainly speedy, or so it seemed rounding steep hills with many tight bends!
We met our guide, Nestor, close to the beginning of the Levada, and he was quickly into the descriptions of trees and plants encountered along the route. Although the walk was around 7 kilometres long, it was totally flat (except the steep downhill of around 100 metres approaching the village at the end). In the village we were able to bu refreshments and there were toilets.
With frequent stops to admire wonderful views of forest, ocean and farmland, it certainly wasn’t a strenuous walk and we were surprised how fast the morning passed. As it was a Sunday morning it was a delight to hear church bells echoing around the mountainsides, and even a midday carillon, beautiful!
Nestor gave very clear explanations of how the Levadas function, which for our first experience of such a walk was most interesting.
