Lovely walk with a friendly guide. I am sorry that I can’t remember his name, maybe Alvaro? He had an excellent local knowledge and made the walk fun. It was good to see the Mimosa flowers just coming into bloom. The walk ended at a lovely little bar/coffee shop. I really enjoyed the morning.

Auch dieses Jahr sind wir mit MadeiraFreeSpiritWalks unterwegs gewesen und waren von Alvaros Qualitäten als Führer begeistert. Während er uns auf dem Mimosa Valley Walk viel erzählen konnte über die Pflanzenwelt im Allgemeinen und der bewundernswerten Arbeit der Einheimischen auf ihren kleinen terrassierten Feldern im Besonderen, erfuhren wir auf der Serra D'Agua Tour mehr über die Levadas, ihren Bau und ihre Bedeutung für die Wirtschaft der Insel. Immer auch hatte er unser Wohlergehen im Blick (Regenjacken, Wanderstöcke, Pausen) sowie die Interessen der Teilnemer ("..any questions?"), und wir erfuhren viel über geschichtliche Vergangenheit und gesellschaftliche Veränderungen auf der Insel, gewürzt mit zahlreichen humorvollen Anekdoten. Alvaros Wissen über Flora und Fauna Madeiras ist absolut beeindruckend, und er machte uns immer wieder auf die schönsten Ausblicke aufmerksam. Dass er darüber hinaus Tiere stimmlich imitiert und regelrecht mit ihnen kommunizieren kann, ist ein zusätzliches vergnügliches Plus.... Wir können FreeSpiritWalks aus all diesen Gründen wärmstens empfehlen!

What a fantastic walk.-would definitely recommend.The guide Alvaro was fun & very willing to share his knowledge of the country. We met a few locals who Alvaro chatted with & told us about their farming & crops. We had time to take photographs & admire the countryside & the pace of the walk was just right.The cafe at the end gave the group time to chat .Transport was good & safety of us all was taken seriously .
