This is undoubtedly one of the levadas you don’t want to miss. A magnificent trail of the Madeira’s Laurissilva forest where you can enjoy the unique vegetation of this UNESCO natural heritage. The first part of the trail consists of a mixture of endemic and introduced vegetation after the discovery of the island. You can see various perspectives of the village at a distance. In the second part, the trail penetrates into the interior of the island, that stills remains the same since before its discovery, more than five centuries ago. To be honest I’m not sure if the activity I picked for this review is actually the one we did but it really doesn’t matter - it was a magical and thoroughly enjoyable experience regardless. Our superb guide picked us up at the hotel and we enjoyed learning all about this history of the island and the laverda whilst we drove into the mountains. The walk itself was lovely (cool and flat!) and the scenery just breathtaking . If I were not travelling home soon I would spend many more hours hiking with this company. There are lots of options for laverda walks on Tripadvisor but this one very much deserves its high rating and I cannot recommend it more strongly.

sehr schöne Tour. Waren nur zu Zweit mit dem Guide. Aber ähnliche Wanderungen schön häufiger gemacht - und war immer toll.
