Sunrise Self-Guided Hike from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo

The day before the transfer we got a lot of additional Information like a map of the hike, weather forcast and what to take with you. The driver Filipe picked us up on time and we arrived at the top of Pico do Arriero with the Right amount of time to get a quick summary of the tour and still have enough time to find a Place to sit for the sunrise. We met at Achada do Teixeira 5 Hours After Filipe dropped us off. During the Drive he gave us a lot of Tipps what to do/where to eat/ Drink on Madeira. On our way back we Even had a quick stop at Santana at one of the typical houses . Thanks a lot Filipe and Logan :)

Filipe was bang on time picking us up and we arrived at Pico do Arieiro with just the right amount of time spare to see the sun rise without rushing or having to wait ages. It is great what Do it Madeira are doing and how they're doing it (picking you up and leaving you to your own devices). It felt like a real adventure this way. Having said that, you get picked up really early in the morning by someone who really knows and is passionate about the area. Filipe entertained and informed us all the way and back again. You get dropped off and are left to do the hike yourself without a guide following you round, but you do still get lots of info given to you beforehand including a pdf map and advice on what to wear and what the weather's going to be like, amongst other things, which was all super helpful. So much better than being taken around by a guide because it feels way more free and adventurous an experience. The drive there and back was over half an hour each way so there was plenty of time for the guide/driver Filipe to give us loads of information about the area (and advise us on local drinks! The poncha at the café at the end was amazing by the way. I'm so glad I tried it!) A truly wonderful day filled with memories that I'll cherish for many years. A great hike that was superbly organised by Logan and Filipe and I hope to use their service again the next time I visit Madeira as I didn't get around to doing a levada walk!

The pick up and drop off from and to our accommodation was great and the option of seeing the sunrise from the top of Pico do Arieiro was amazing. Good contact also through WhatsApp with the company just before the hike providing a lot of useful informations, during the hike checking if everything is ok and after it too giving us some recommandations. The hike is amazing, hard enough to make it challenging but easy enough to enjoy the incredible landscapes. It was our best experience on the island. The driver was to us very good but too talkative we must say, trying maybe too hard to make people have fun.
