Direct to Ponta do Sol, avoiding the crowds at Ribeira Brava, for the morning coffee stop and south coast views. Old roads only the Land Rover can deal with, ascending through the rural areas of Ponta do Sol. 45 minute off-road track to Paul da Serra, the largest Plateau of the island, 1494m above sea level! Descending towards the North side of the island to Ribeira da Janela with large landscape views of the protected UNESCO forest Next, we will have lunch at one of our partner restaurants. (optional extra, not included in price and highly recommended) After a walk around the village of Porto Moniz, we head South through the village of Seixal (rock pools, swimming) Through Sao Vicente and Serra de Agua (poncha) And finally ending at the Cabo Girao glass bottom viewpoint

We had an incredible, private, full day tour of the Western mountains and coast. Our guide Tiago who grew up in Madeira was an expert in the local history, flora, fauna, geology, and geography of the island. We learned so much and experienced the most breathtaking landscapes imaginable. Tiago showed us all the bucket list sites and some “hidden gems” like some less frequented natural pools that we practically had to ourselves. After 8 hours with Tiago he felt like family. I don’t know how to pay a higher compliment than that.

Nice trip to the West of Madeira. Tiago is an enthousiast local that can talk very enthousiastic about the island. I was traveling alone, but in total we were with 6 in the Land Rover. Plus Tiago, our driver. He tries to take some local roads (or shortcuts as he called them) instead of the big main roads. We have seen some nice things. Also the lunch (not included) was very good. It was a relaxed way to discoer the South. You don’t have to look at your navigation and you hear some interesting things about Madeira.
