    This small town by the sea, is situated in between high mountains that lead up to the center of the island. With several shops and cafes, you will be able to enjoy the views sitting by the promenade. Several landmarks to be found here, such as the Lighthouse and Fort of São Bento.

    This plateau, located at 1300-1500 meters high, offers stunning views over the green mountains and valleys. It is also the location of Rabaçal and starting point for many famous levadas, such as Risco and 25 Fontes.

    You will have your first sights of Porto Moniz arriving from high in the mountains, right next to the sea with its natural swimming pools and its pure beautifull landscape. Here it will be the lunch time and you are free to go to the restaurant, cafe, or explore the pools.

    Right after Porto Moniz, you will arrive to Seixal. This platform flowing down from the mountains into the sea, has its own natural beauty. With lushfull green mountains in its back, and the blue ocean ahead. Here you can also see the famous "Véu da Noiva" (Bride's Veil) waterfall.

The west tour was good, the driver and tour operator was ok. We stopped at almost all the sites as described, except we didn’t stay within the prescribed time, we also did not do a proper stop at Seixal Beach which was disappointing. The tour operator provided some good information but in the second half of the tour had some strong personal opinions which wasn’t appropriate for the tour.

Visite de l'ouest. Eduardo, chauffeur et guide au top. A l'heure à la prise en charge, journée avec de nombreux arrêts, avec les commentaires pertinents. Véhicule confortable nous étions 6 (1 français et 5 espagnols). Très belle journée et très belle expérience. Je recommande.....

Our guide was so friendly, polite, happy, funny and knowledgeable. We learnt so much about the island and local culture/history. The sites were superb and there was plenty of time at each area to enjoy it all. The only thing I would recommend for anyone going on the trip, is to take travel sickness tablets, even if you’ve never suffered with it before, as the roads are continually windy. Our guide was a very considerate driver and the travel sickness and roads were not his fault. A great day out….thank you! ????
