The Military Fortress built in the 18th century was converted into a concentration camp during World War II. The part called „Big Fortress“ became a ghetto-concentration camp for Jews, whereas the „Small Fortress“ was used as a Gestapo police prison. Terezin was not only a place of suffering but also a place of courage, self–sacrifice and the never ending struggle to save those who were destined to be victims of the Holocaust. Entrance fees to both Small Fortress and the Big Fortress are included.

Excellent guide—very informative, personable and professional. Cheerfully answered multiple questions with insight as well as patience; even explained what we were seeing on the drive from Prague to Terezin. Very clean and comfortable van. At Terezin, sobering yet well-done presentation of difficult experiences; not too graphic for children. Highly recommend this tour!

The most emotional moment was visiting the memorial for the ashes of all different concentration camps, that was extremely tough to my soul to digest……

The most memorable place was the small hidden room in the Ghetto where they held services. The displays in the museum drove home the humanity of the victims.
