Leave the world behind and join us in exploring the mysterious realm of Vallee de Mai. Stroll along the winding footpaths of a place so special it has been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site, beneath the shade of ancient, towering palms bearing the most extraordinary fruit of all: the famous Coco de Mer. A double lobed coconut, it holds the record as the world’s heaviest seed, mystifyingly designed by Mother Nature to perfectly imitate the sensual shape of a woman’s pelvis, adding to its Eden lore. Listen for the call of one of the world’s rarest birds, the Seychelles Black Parrot, as you wander further into the valley. Your guide will introduce you to its spectacular treasures, which includes one of the planet’s tiniest frogs, stick insects, chameleons and six species of endemic palms.     Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve is a nature park and UNESCO World Heritage Site on the island of Praslin, Seychelles. It consists of a well-preserved palm forest, flagship species made up of the island endemic coco de mer, as well as five other endemic palms.

We visited the interior DE l'UNESCO heritage site Vallè de Mai in the company of the guide Mario ("but I'm not Italian and I don't speak it"????). Very well prepared, nice, good, good, good! He described flora and fauna, curiosity, all seasoned with spirit and fun. Then lunch at Cote d'Or buffet (very good) in La Piroghe and a few hours of bathing in Anse Lazio. Wonderful! We found ourselves on another excursion to Couriose Island and St Pierre to visit the turtles of Aldabra (protected species) and inland Curious Island with lunch and snorkeling (unfortunately not possible in St Pierre for the rough sea, but they found other possible sites off Anse Georgette and Anse Lazio plus lighthouse area. Wonderful! Highly recommended both excursions. We will be back as soon as possible for the catamaran! Meanwhile, thanks for the wonderful experience! Great also in support during the transfer islands and support at the airport. ❤️

This trip was definitely not worth £150 for the two of us, very disappointing. The transport didn’t turn up at the hotel, when we did get picked up I was expecting something a little more private and comfortable for the money. Unfortunately I don’t rate Valle De Mai, we didn’t see a lot other than Coco de Mer trees, a big spider and geckos that we see every day by the pool of the hotel. Don’t get me wrong, the young guide was very knowledgeable and lovely but it didn’t make up for lack of things to see. To top it off, we didn’t get the bottle of water as per the trip guidance.

We stayed 6 days in Praslin and took all our excursions with the Creole Travel Services. We were truly delighted with all our excursions.
