Unexpected beauty Seeing the pictures and seeing it with our own eyes was something different. I thought already that it is nice and therefore also my expectations were high but seeing this village and the beauty of this area with my own eyes I must say is a different world. The pictures do not even come close. Thanks to our guide Gary we learned so much about this area and its history. Gary was just fabulous and very entertaining.

Nice village but spectacular mountains We decided to take this tour, as we read that Hallstatt is picturesque. What followed was so much more. Bernie understood that we were on the traces of beautiful areas, lakes and trying to avoid crowds. We saw Hallstatt, avoiding the crowded places (except for the one instagram spot). He took us also to Altaussee, lots of traditions. Bernie took us into one of the shops that make the traditional dresses and pants there. So interesting and great to learn about the traditions. He also showed us a man who together with others run from house to house around christmas for the blessings with huge paper hats. We also saw one of the James Bond movie locations and absolutely fell in love with this area!

Worth it This tour is absolutely worth taking! Avoiding crowds, having the flexibility to stay in one place longer or shorter was just perfect. We really enjoyed this tour and learned so much about the history. We also loved the salt mines. It was some walking to get there but definitely worth it. So much fascinating history and joy we could not imagine.
