Experiment on your own the only phenomena that happen in the latitude 0´0´0 in Ecuador! Take a 3 hour horseback ride through the Pululahua Crater to discover its lush landscape, which makes it one of the only calderas in the world and the only one cultivated by its inhabitants.     Pululahua Volcano is inactive but its past eruptions, the last around 2500 years ago, have left a huge crater full of fertile soil. At 34 square kilometers, the volcanic crater is one of the largest in the world. The lava dome in the middle rises around 500 meters above the crater floor and is covered in lush cloud forest vegetation. Pululahua is one of only 2 inhabited volcanic calderas in the world and the only one cultivated by its inhabitants. It is believed that it was first settled by the Incas. The small agricultural communities here grow various crops in the rich soil of the fields around the floor of the crater.

The actual activities were wonderful. Cecilia from horseback riding went above and beyond and did so much to help me feel at ease during the ride in. The middle of the world museum was interesting. The museum provides a guide for you in a small group. As for our guide we had from viator he wasn't the most communicative nor informative. We were also supposed to stop for lunch which we did not do but he did offer to drop us off at a restaurant several streets away from our hotel for us to find our way back. We declined as it wasn't a good area between the two places. Overall the two activities were great but take a pass on the guide. If you just need transportation then sure but if you want to know what you are seeing on the way maybe choose another tour.
