    Meet your professional local guide at the centrally located point at the historic center of Taormina (meeting point will be shown on your voucher) and start your small-group sunset promenade, or like Italians say “paseggiata”. You will walk the main street of Taormina – Corso Umberto - vibrant and lively, but still relaxed and romantic when the sun goes down. You will walk from the ancient historic gates of Porta Messina to Porta Catania and see such important monuments like Palazzo Corvaja, the 2nd century Roman theatre Odeon, ancient Roman Naumachia, old churches of San Pancrazio, Santa Caterina, San Giuseppe, and other. You will stop to admire a spectacular view of Etna Volcano and Ionian Coastline opening from the terrace of the Piazza IX Aprile, then continue to Piazza Duomo to see the main cathedral of Taormina and the symbol of the town – ancient fountain holding a centaur with a female head. From your friendly licensed local guide who is truly in love with his mother town, you will hear about the history and interesting facts of Taormina, learn about the influence of the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards presented on each step, each stone and in everyday life of the town – in its architecture, culture, cuisine, language, and even Sicilian set of mind. Jerry our tour guide was wonderful! He’s lived in Taormina for 30+ years and knew it’s history really well. He was patient and kind with our kids ages 3, 4, 6 and 12. The last stop for a sunset drink was gorgeous and relaxing.

What a wonderful and beautiful way to learn about this beautiful city! Marco was so enthusiastic about everything that he made you love it all the more. Beautiful timing as well to see things as the light goes down on this beautiful part of Sicily. I highly recommend this tour for a very enjoyable experience and with a very nice drink and view to enjoy at the end!
