This small-group tour offers a well-rounded taste of Crete—both literally and culturally. Your day begins at Knossos Palace, the heart of the Minoan civilization and legendary labyrinth of King Minos. While entrance fees and certified guides are optional, you’ll have free time to explore the ruins and soak in the myths.
Next, journey into the Cretan countryside for a stop at a local olive oil estate. Learn about traditional and modern methods, followed by a tasting of premium oils. Then, visit a family-run winery and raki distillery to sample native wines and tsikoudia, Crete’s signature spirit, while discovering age-old distilling techniques.
We end the day with a Cretan lunch at a village taverna, where local recipes, fresh ingredients, and house wine offer a taste of true hospitality. This is a day of stories, flavors, and relaxed island rhythm—exactly as it should be in Crete.

Knossos Archaeological Site, Knosos, Greece The Palace of Knossos, Crete’s Bronze Age marvel, was the center of Minoan civilization (2000–1400 BCE). This sprawling 20,000 sq. meter complex featured advanced architecture, early plumbing, and vivid frescoes like the "Bull-Leaping" scene, reflecting Minoan culture. The "Throne Room" and labyrinthine layout suggest religious and administrative significance, possibly inspiring the Minotaur myth. Excavated by Arthur Evans, its partial reconstructions let visitors experience Europe’s oldest city firsthand. A key archaeological site, Knossos reveals Minoan innovation and artistry long before classical Greece. (598 characters) 120 minutes

I am so pleased that I booked this experience, it added local culture, delicious wine and food and stunning views to our trip to Crete. Domaine Paterianakis is a wonderful family business making organic wines in a breath takingly beautiful part of the world. The family running the winery were very welcoming and charming. We tasted 5 wines, which we chose and had a beautiful platter of local foods to go with it. Great value, super friendly and very interesting. Don't miss it!

Amazing experience, from arrival the staff at the winery were great and very pleasant. The tour was good and a lovely experience. The tour operator could do better with providing notice a bit early with regards to time of pick up, say two hours before or a day before. But the driver who picked us up was very good and had a decent AC!
