This is a day trip to the Utiel-Requena wine region of about 6.5-7 hours. Your guide is a sommelier specialised in Valencian wines, who will tell you about the history of wine in Valencia region, about the grape varieties, and a lot more! We’ll first go to the picturesque village of Requena, where we’ll visit some 9th century caves. These were used for storing cereals, meat and wine; the beautiful old clay pots are still there. Here we’ll do a short guided tour, and a first wine tasting (2-3 wines), before continuing to Utiel. Our next stop is an authentic 19th century winery, where we'll do a guided tour, starting in the vineyards, and following the wine making process from "grape to bottle". We see the vineyards, production area, and barrel rooms. After that we'll taste some of their best wines. For lunch we'll go to a nearby village, a complete local lunch with more wine… This tour can be done by wheelchair users or groups less than 3 or more than 14 people - only on request.

This was one of the best private wine tours we have done, and we had such a great time! Johan was an incredible tour guide - extremely knowledgeable about the local wines and historic areas we visited. Based on our fabulous experience, we strongly recommend every Valencia visitor to book a tour with Johan. Even if you don’t drink wine, Johan brings the country with its people, its history and people and of course its tradition in wine to your heart. We enjoyed a tailor-made tour to some wine makers and have learned so much about wine and wine making by Johan and his insightful comments during the tastings.

This was excellent! Johan was a great guide for this wine tour- he shared interesting historical as well as detailed wine information. He was also able to accommodate me being in a wheelchair (I broke my foot my second day in Valencia). The wines were great and the lunch was extraordinary and far exceeded our expectations. He picked us up right at our front door and brought us back there the end of the tour. We are looking into another tour with him when our family joins us. I would highly recommend this tour if you are looking to have an exceptional experience.
