    Your local guide will meet you at the agreed meeting point, the tour takes you to the historic center of Puerto Plata. Together with your tour guide you will see the famous San Felipe Cathedral and the typical Victorian houses. Take a look around and use the time to buy souvenirs. As the grand finale of your shore excursion, you will visit the fortress “Fuerte de San Felipe”, built in the mid-16th century to keep pirates off the coast. Even today, it is considered one of the oldest military forts from the colonial era in the region. During your visit, you will receive many interesting facts and insights into the story. After this varied excursion, it’s time to return to your ship.

We really loved the tour! The cable car and tour of the garden was an absolute highlight and the empanadas were delicious. The tour of the fort and city were also just what we were looking for as far as an intro to DR. The only con would be the amber museum. The rep there (totally separate from our main guide) was a little pushy with tips. She hovered around us while w were shopping around and really pushed us to by something. While amber is cool, museum isn’t the word I would use to describe this stop

Our guide was Milton and he is top notch!! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. He tailored our experience to our interests and abilities. He was extremely knowledgeable, bought us water and a snack and took care of all of our tickets etc. I can't say enough good about him. He is an outstanding representative of his company and his country.
