I had the unique experience of doing this. Having visited Vallarta since 2006 this has hit a special spot in my heart. I’m a certified wine and sake sommelier and I know some basics of spirit distillation. I’m
Honored to recommend this.
What was unique about this experience is you really traverse the many regions of Mexico on spirits - historically and religious beliefs. Starting with Tequila (Artisanal ones no You can’t find these in stores ) made in traditional methods using Blue agave you step into the world of Raicilla from the high mountains of Jalisco and next you step into a blended Mezcal from Oaxaca with multiple varietals of agave and then into Bacanora (yes another Sonora based Mezcal with a DOC like Tequila) and finally into a drink called Sotol (not agave!). If you are a geek for this you are in for a journey. If you are in for learning some serious culture of mexico and influence of agave and nuances of distillations (and more!) this will be your cup of tea (aka tequila). Even if you are a novice and like the nose and taste of wines food and spirits, etc this is a good ride.
As much as I would love to share my excitement for what I learned I don’t want my enthusiasm to bleed into your ride. It’s incredible, fascinating and a super unique and bespoke journey of infotainment to feel elevated in more ways on Mexico’s spirits.
I want to praise and thank the owner Corinna Levine Dahlin for coming up with this program. I also want to thank Edgar the gentleman who taught this program.
Seriously folks if you want a 1.5h to 2h of culture, spirit, tasting and fun please do this.
Gracias Vallarta for coming up with programs and experiences such as this.
