    At the butterfly sanctuary we'll delve into engaging encounter with nature in all its beauty and diversity, lead by the most passionate guide, while learning about the life of butterflies. We’ll take a captivating stroll through subtropical sanctuary filled with breathtaking butterflies free-flying and dancing above you. At the end we'll have a surprise for you; you'll release butterflies and grant them first flight of their life! Journey to the cocoa garden will take you back in time to the pre-Hispanic era, where you'll discover origins of cocoa, its heritage, spiritual and cultural significance, you'll master the fascinating art of ancient chocolate making and marvel at all the work it takes to transform cocoa beans into the rich and melt-in-your-mouth artisanal chocolate. You'll visit cocoa tree garden and experience the enchanting indigenous world of cocoa and chocolate with all your senses. At the end all participants will be rewarded with a luscious cocoa ambrosia.

We booked the tour directly through the Sanctuary not through a booking tour group. We did not have lunch there. We enjoyed the private tour and we got to release two butterflies. I liked that these are native butterflies...not ones they buy and raise.

Very interesting learned about all local butterflies and what they eat got to release a new butterfly and have a nice authentic Mexican lunch

This was a highlight of our time in Puerto Vallarta! Fabian and his team have created the most beautiful sanctuary for the butterflies and experience for those who value conservation. We loved learning about the genesis of the project, how it's evolved and what is in store for the future. We saw so many gorgeous butterflies and learned about their lifecycles, what plants they like, what predators threaten them, and we got to see a butterfly laying eggs, a newly hatched butterfly drying itself, and got to release three-hour old butterflies. After our tour, Fabian took us to a local restaurant where we had the best Mexican lunch and had time to get to know each other. It was a very special day! The transportation to and from was seamless and Erika was great.
