A truly excellent tour, highly recommend! A great overview of island history led by a local who lives and breaths it (he just started a Viking museum as well). We joined for the puffins and came away from the tour with a great appreciation for the islands.

Our guide was knowledgeable about the island , traditions and history , very personable and patient despite being asked the same questions by multiple people and even though he has probably given the tour hundreds of times still sounds interesting and passionate about it . He also had a great sense of humor. As for what you see , the islands are incredibly beautiful, puffins are unique and the Viking abode fascinating. Definitely the highlight of our trip !

Absolutely fabulous tour of Vestmannaeyjar and surroundings, led by Ebbi, a guide filled with local knowledge and stories presented in an enjoyable and informative manner. From describing how children are trained to collect Murren eggs from nearby islands (even demonstrating how they swing from ropes off of cliffs), to visiting a recreation of a Viking home at the original site of the island's settlement to visiting the Puffin nesting grounds, Ebbi presented life on the island both past and present with colorful stories. He also took us to the site of the 1973 volcano eruption, describing in detail how the islanders awoke in the middle of the night to this unexpected eruption and made a miraculous escape from the island, saving countless lives in spite of the loss of 1500 homes. This two hour tour was filled fascinating information and stunning views. Ebbi is also a great photographer and was happy to take family group shots in the best of locations with picture perfect backgrounds. I give this tour the highest of recommendations.
