Discover this incredible tour totally outside the tourist bubble, get to know the architecture and customs of Higüey with this excursion from Punta Cana. -We will pick you up at your hotel and just an hour later we will arrive in Higüey: the capital of the Dominican province of La Altagracia. - We will first visit a tobacco factory. Do you know how this typical product is made? We will know the main techniques in this artisan house. - The next stop will be the Basilica-Cathedral of Our Lady of La Altagracia. This modern sanctuary, located in the heart of Higüey, is consecrated to one of the most revered virgins by Dominicans. - We will continue the excursion in the Higüey Market, where we will see the great variety of exotic fruits of its stalls. -Then we will go to the Sanctuary of San Dionisio. Do you know the link between this temple and the Virgin of La Altagracia? We will find out! Finally, we will go to the paradisiacal Macao beach, where we will make a brief photo stop.

    Our transport will pick you up at your hotel, you will start a wonderful journey of approximately one hour until you reach Higuey. ​The first thing you will do is visit a tobacco and sugar cane plantation, we will explain the process of your harvest and preparation. You will visit a beautiful store of souvenirs, paintings and crafts made by the owners themselves. ​Later we move to the basilica cathedral of higuey, you can enter to enjoy its beautiful architecture. We will then go to the higuey market where you can taste the delicious tropical fruits among other things. ​At the end, our transportation will take you back to your hotel.

You are basically hiring a non-English speaking driver to take you to these spots. If that is all you require than you will enjoy the trip. But if you want anything explained in English, you won't get it.

This was not a tour as booked but rather a comfortable taxi ride. Carlos was very pleasant and a good driver but had no English and was not able to add any information or explanation. He was out of his depth as a guide. One of the stops in the itinerary was unknown to him. We had specified an English speaking tour and the trip was only tolerable due to my husband's Spanish knowledge. No drinking water was supplied as specified. Higuey basilica was very impressive however.

Une honte, nous n'avons pas fait la totalité de l'excursion, le guide ne savait même pas de quoi il parlait. Il s'est endormi pendant l'excursion ! Le pire le guide nous a indiqué que c'était pas la peine de prendre des photos qu'il nous prendrait lui. A la fin de l'excursion il a refusé de nous donner les photos sauf contre 150$ !!!! A fuir !!! Grosse arnaque
