Whale Watching & Limón Waterfall Day Trip

If you book this excursion, be aware while you are being driven to your first destination that it will change by your guide. Your guide will convince everyone that there is a better excursion then the one you booked. For instance, we booked a part of our excursion to go to The Islands and spend time on a beautiful beach, go out into the Caribbean Sea and experience the Star Fish up close. Yet we were taken to a old town, put on a cramped and crowded boat full of other tourists, told we had to wear life preserves that where old, sweaty and smelled before the boat would leave for a Whale Watching experience that couldn't be enjoyed due to the amount of people that were packed onto the boat. Another part of this excursion was to be taken to a place called " The Ranch " on the top of some hill, where we are to have lunch there and then go horseback riding through a jungle to the top of a waterfall. Sounds great doesn't it. Be aware, the food was okay. When it's time to go horseback riding, you will experience something much different. The way this works is ...You get herded down to where the horses are located. They have you put on an old unsanitary helmet, you see a herd of intimidating pack of young men and women that are staged and waiting to be picked to be your " Horse Guide ". Your picked Horse Guide will walk along the side of the horse and take you to the Top of the waterfall. After you are there, your guide will take you down approximately 240 steps to the bottom of the waterfall. On our way back from the waterfall, the guide I had...had rushed me away from everyone else and got me alone on the trail and threatened,and demanded me to pay him money. I was alone in this jungle being threatened. I got off the horse and got away from him. I made my way on foot to some other riders that where on there way back for my safety. I'm confident that this has happened to others. So be aware and stay with your group if you are going on this excursion.

The tour guide Nacho is quite a personality and makes the day really fun. Pick-up and drop-off back to hotel was convenient. I did see some whale tales, but unfortunately not so well because I was on the other side of the boat than the wales and people were standing so it was impossible to see behind them. Tour quides didn't really try to do anything about it so some people saw very well and some not, sadly. Dominican lunch was really tasty, that took place next to the starting point of riding to waterfall. The riding was a big disappointment because they hit the horses! I felt really sick, the owner of the horse was walking beside/behind the horse and spanked it, for No reason. The path is really rocky and horse tried it's best. Also, of rider doesn't ask the horse go faster how is it fair that someone else goes on hitting them to go faster? The horse does nothing wrong and this was so awful that I would not have taken the tour if I new this. I cannot encourage to support that kind of behavior towards animals or something has to change. I hope tour operators start to do something about to this issue. Also, it says that everything is included in the tour, but still they say you should give tip to horse owners to get paid. The tour operator should pay the horse owners as the tour is already so expensive!

Our guide Nacho was fantastic. Fun trip. Saw several whales and had a great Dominican lunch. Bring some cash as there are several tipping opportunities
