During camel racing season, we will collect you, drive you to Qatar’s racing track at Al Shahaniya. There you will be able to be photographed with camels, go behind the scenes, see both the finish and start line, drive like Qataris along side the many races and experience the thrill and excitement of live races with your guide.

    Camel racing competitions take place from October up until February every year on Fridays, and the big main competitions are in March and April. The winner is awarded the prestigious Golden Sword of the Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at the end of the camel racing festival which is well-known as H H the Emir’s Main Race.

It was quite an amazing adventure!! Camels racing with little jockey robots and their owners racing in their cars alongside the tracks, coaching and shouting into their microphones connected to the camel’s jockey robot. The camel leading the race early on is not usually the one that wins. The Murex tours is well organized. Our driver guide Sajid Khan picked us up and was very knowledgeable about the camels, the Qatari culture and history. We not only raced along several camels races but also held the robots, saw the process from the start of the race to end where bloodwork is done on the winners as well as scans of the robots. A tour and experience I highly recommend!
