I visited this museum about 20 years ago as a student and this time came with my family. My 9-year-old son was fascinated with the many high-quality exhibits. The Indigenous exhibits are nothing short of amazing. I could have spent a full day just exploring those. You think you know your country and the people within it but then you find new perspectives and stories of which you had never heard.
The other sections of the museum were also very well done and the museum itself is very easy to navigate. They were also very cognizant that children may be coming through the exhibits and presented the events in ways that the children could understand in an manner that would not upset them. I would recommend kids of 8-18 would be well-served attending.
New Canadians are also able to attend at no charge with the Kanoo pass, as are veterans and Indigenous peoples.
They have a children's museum too but we did not attend as it really was geared toward kindergarten-aged kids.
The Panorama Cafe on site is something I would recommend you avoid. Overpriced and very small, mediocre portions.
