We invite you to visit the Daintree Discovery Centre, an award-winning world class interpretive facility that allows visitors easy access to every level of the Daintree Rainforest; from the forest floor to the upper most reaches of the canopy. Established in 1989 the centre is widely recognised as a leader in the field of ecotourism, and in particular, environmental conservation. It provides an excellent introduction to the wonders of the Daintree Rainforest. The Daintree Discovery Centre is located in the heart of the Daintree rainforest, an easy 2 hour drive north of Cairns along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world.

We had a blast here. Myself, partner, my mother (with mobility issues) my 20 year old daughter with a disability and my teen kids. It was stunningly beautiful, well laid out. The paths were easy to navigated even though it was raining heavily (that made it even more fun). It's so warm it doesn't matter if you get wet just bring a towel. The drive up there is pretty special too!

This is effectively a living outdoor museum. The staff there told us we’d need to allow about 60 minutes to tour the place but we spent about three hours going through and doing all the different walks The audio tour is interesting and informative - especially the indigenous audio tracks. The booklet that you get with the ticket is really good as well Fascinating to see how the rainforest works and so many different types of plants competing for water and sunlight. The elevated boardwalk puts you up in the canopy for a new perspective and the tower puts you way above it All the staff were really friendly and eager to talk about the centre Our 12year old is really into animals and nature and he absolutely loved the tour and wanted to take in every single thing Highly recommend this to anyone, but if you’ve got a nature lover in the family, they’ll definitely get a lot out of it

As an adult you won’t get much more out of this than doing one of the boardwalks. You get bored of the audio commentary quickly. But if you have young kids (10 or under) then the insect, snakes and fish exhibits, the tower and the prehistoric creature statues are probably enough to justify the cost. Only took us about an hour to see it all. Go see it but don’t prioritise it or expect a days worth of entertainment.
