  • Moderate to Challenging: In the cloud forest the uphill biking part can be challenging but there is always a truck behind supporting the team; the whitewater rafting on the Jatunyacu is Class III; the trekking in the cloud forest is moderate; the hiking in Sierra Negra is moderate but long and muddy during the wet season (from July to November); snorkeling is easy.
  • Travelling with Adventure Journeys you will have the possibility to experience and taste local food and snacks. Your guide will help you identify typical food and suggest the best places to enjoy it. Some meals are not included in order to give you some flexibility about where, what and with whom to eat. You have the option to share these meals with the group, however there is no obligation to do this. If you have any allergies or food restrictions, please inform AJ prior to your departure.
  • The waters of the Galapagos Islands are a unique mixture of warm and cold water, ranging between 65ºF and 85ºF
  • All prices are based on double-occupancy. If you are travelling solo, you will be matched with another participant of your same gender. If you prefer to have a single room, please contact AJ prior to your departure to arrange your accommodation at an extra cost.
  • All AJ guides and trip leaders are highly experienced, licensed to operate in Ecuador and certified as Wilderness Adventure First Aid responders. We always carry a complete first aid kit in our trips. In some location and for some activities, local guides join the trip leaders to provide an added service. In the Galapagos Islands, minimum 4 participants for the AJ trip leader service are required.
  • Clients receive a conservationist interpretation of the ecology of the Andes, Amazon Rainforest and Galapagos Islands with the factors that threaten it. We aim to promote long-term conservation of both Local People cultural identity and their environment. Your visit will encourage them to support responsible ecotourism. We transport out and recycle all non-organic garbage.support responsible eco-tourism as a sustainable alternative for their living.

    We had the best tour guides. Andras in quito and Jonathon in Galapagos were fantastic guides. Our trip was made far better with both of these guides. Knowledgeable, personable and just good people. Would definitely recommend this tour.

    We had a wonderful trip, with a wide range of activities and fantastic guides. Vanessa went above and beyond for us both before and during the trip. She answered all of our questions and worked with us to iron out issues regarding a 3rd party reservation. When our bags were lost by the airline, she kept us up to date on the status and location of our stuff. We had a great tour of old town Quito and the museum at the equator. Juan David showed us hidden details, and yummy treats, while still letting us explore. Marlon was with us for about a week in the Galapagos and was very helpful. He was supportive, informative, and patient. He also was very helpful with side activities and restaurants to try in our free time that all turned out fantastic. The snorkeling was awesome, but definitely take motion sickness medicine for the boat between Santa Cruz and Isabella as the water is pretty rough! We spent most of the second week with Jorge exploring Banos and Pimpilala. He was knowledgeable, funny, and flexible, changing plans based on weather, the Cotopaxi eruption and our interests. Anything we mentioned he made happen, plus taking us to some hidden gems. Lagoon Azul was so cool! We cannot recommend traveling with Adventure Journeys, our guides, and this trip specifically enough!

    The most amazing trip I’ve ever been on! I am absolutely impressed by the region, but even more so by Adventure Journeys. They had everything planned from the main itinerary to even simple in-person support during airport and boat transfers. They offered so many fun and interesting suggestions for the free days. They had well educated and personable guides that taught me more than I ever imagined I would learn about the geography, geology, astronomy, culture, etc. I came home a much better person than when I left, I swear! I have already recommended this trip and this company to everyone I’ve had the pleasure of bragging about it to. This was a once in a lifetime trip for me and I’m so happy we did it through Adventure Journeys. It was phenomenal!! Our guides were AMAZING! We spent most our time with Franklin, Fabricio, and Paul. Help from Nicole and Nathali through the entire journey was priceless as well! Thank you all for such a memorable experience!
