    It is an active stratovolcano in the Andes Mountains. On a clear day, Cotopaxi is clearly visible on the skyline from Quito and is part of the chain of volcanoes around the Pacific plate known as the Pacific Ring of Fire. It has an almost symmetrical cone that rises from a highland plain of about 3,800 m

  • Laguna de Limpiopungo, Latacunga, Ecuador
    Its clear but frigid waters are surrounded by small mountains and hills. It has a magnificent view of the picture in a frame of elevations such as Cotopaxi, the Sincholagua and Rumiñahui. Here you can see a great variety of birds, herds of llamas and some other species of mammals, especially rabbits and deer, among others.

Fue una experiencia agradable, completamente recomendado, nuestra guía Camila es una excelente persona, muy profesional y con buen manejo de la información y del idioma inglés. Aunque el desayuno y almuerzo no están incluidos debo reconocer que los restaurantes donde nos llevaron los platillos eran económicos y muy ricos. Honestamente volvería a contrar este tour.

Overall, good experience and checked all the boxes for us. Our guide, Oscar, was great. Very knowledgeable and consistently asked us how we were doing, which we appreciated. The experience of trekking to the refuge was a test of enduring the altitude! We got to see the Cotopaxi glacier which was awesome (in March it can be a toss up) and hang out at the refuge where we bought coca tea and snacks. It was a great experience and very challenging since we had just flown into Quito the day before. I’d probably recommend waiting a day or so to acclimate if you come from sea level like us :) Unfortunately, when we got back down the van would not start so we all had to get out and push. Thankfully our group was very relaxed and didn’t freak out. We went to an incredible restaurant after the hike that also had some llamas we could feed outside. Make sure you bring money for lunch! We stayed at an Airbnb so we had a short walk to our pick up and drop off spot near a hotel, but it was not bad — appreciated that we did not have to taxi or anything.
