    You will explore today the most vibrant city of Ecuador, Guayaquil. The Malecón which is located at the Guayas riverfront, the picturesque barrio of Las Peñas and the nice atmosphere makes Guayaquil the beating heart of Ecuador. Guayaquil is the main port of the country and is considered one of the most important because its location and infrastructure provides facilities for international maritime trade. We will visit the Malecon 2000 which attracts thousands of people, especially on weekends.

    . After, we continue to Las Peñas Neighborhood declared as a Cultural Heritage in 1982 and is situated surrounding the Cerro Santa Ana with its unique atmosphere and colorful houses. You will need to hike up 444 stairs until to get to the summit of the hill from where you will obtain an amazing panoramic view on the city. Return to the button of the hill to take cross the Guayas river on board of a modern transportation system called aerovia “cable-car” until arrive to Duran where you will take the transportation to continue to visit a Cacao farm and learn more about how the main chocolate ingredient is grown at these low areas.

    After driving an hour, you will get to a local Cacao Farm managed by a lovely family-owned farm. The family has not only created an abundance of cacao, but also other crops like dragon fruit, plantains, lemon grass and spices. After learning everything about growing cacao plants, you will skin and roast cacao beans and then grind them up to enjoy your self-made chocolate. A typical lunch will be served at this cozy place where the main ingredient is cacao to prepare a delicious dessert. Finally, in the afternoon back to the hotel.

24 April 2024. Our tour quide Julio was exceptional, have impressive knowledge of the city and historical facts and cultural insights. From the start he was full of energy , with his polite, jestful and happy character. He was punctual and good in engaging with all members. He is also adaptable and able to plan the trip logistic well, in term flow and timing of the tours. He is very caring when one of us have some allergies he stopped by a pharmacy on our way back . Most important, he sharp and keep us safe. Thank you Julio .

We were on our way to Peru for a trip with Abercombie and Kent and landed in Guayaquil a day early. I booked this trip which i found on trip advisor and it was amazing. We were so fortunate to have Julio as our guide. He was so informative, pleasant and knowledgable about the good and other issues in the city. He knew exactly where to take us and when when to be careful. We were very happy with the overview of the city, which included the iguana park. The highlight, though, was to visit to the coffee and chocolate farm. We had a lovely lunch there, then, after a short tour had a chocolate making demonstration. The tour ended with us making our own chocolate bars and the opportunity to buy more chocolate and coffee. It was one of the highlights of our trip and i would recommend this to anyone
