Mitad del Mundo Including Entrances

Absolutely the perfect experience for a tour of Mitad del Mundo, the middle of the earth! The museum was fantastic, followed by a short walk the equitorial line!

Irene was a fine tour guide and Maurice did a good job driving in heavy traffic. The trip went to the "real" Equator museum and line and then a 5 minute walk along a dirt path gets you to the "Hollywood" version. That is built up with a lot of stores, more exhibits and so on, but the big monument is just slightly off the remeasured line. Still, going up by elevator to the top of that tower is a fun experience too. Frankly the first site, with excellent guides and a more compact and simple area where you can try hands on experiments, was the one I liked best. Both both are worth seeing. There are only 3 bus trips, leaving at 9, 11:30 and 2, so plan to be back at in Quito 1:30, 4 or 6:30 respectively. It takes most of an hour to get there from Quito, and the trip through the northern part of the city and out into the country is interesting. I found that the 3+ hours between drop off and pick up is plenty of time to visit these two very special areas.

I took a tour to “Mitad del mundo” on 24/09/25, for the Quito Tour. Very interesting... I never thought you'd be that rich. Super recommend!... Worth it.
