I was a solo traveler on the one-day tour from Quito to Papallacta Hot Springs. Communication was excellent re: trip confirmation and logistics, and everything was punctual. My driver and guide, Angel, was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area and it’s flora & fauna. He was bilingual in Spanish & English and also taught me some Quechua!
On the way to the springs, we stopped for a landscape photo op & at a cute café (La Quiteñita) for some hot chocolate. We then went for an easy hike (about 1 hour) in the Parque Nacional Cayambe-Coca, where we saw llamas & walked over and along a river. It was a bit chilly & drizzling, so a light fleece or rain jacket is recommended.
At the springs, there was the option to go into the public thermal pools (included) or upgrade to the private pools for $14 extra. As it was a Sunday and the last day of summer vacation for local schools, the public pools were very crowded so I decided to upgrade. There were many less people & it was very relaxing!
After about 2 hours in the pools, we left & went for a delicious lunch. Then we headed back to Quito and had time to stop at the Artisan Market near the Plaza Foch.
Everything about this itinerary was excellent!
