We had the Tour with Lalu and were really satisfied. He is a nice and competent guide, We enjoyed the day with him very much.

Lalu gave us a fabulous tour. My PhD Husband who reads over 100 books a year turned to me as we left and said, "Now that was a tour unlike any other I've been on!" and he usually patiently endures tours. Lalu has lived within the Jaisalmer Fort Walls his entire life so knows everyone and all of the local traditions, but he is also finishing up a PhD on the Indian Custom of Sati, the ancient practice of Indian widows burning on their husband's funeral pyre. Therefore he is able to give a very personal portrayal of the local customs and history but with the sophistication of a historian. He's also fun. We did everything from explore the Jain Temples to sample the most popular street food. As we departed he gave us a great restaurant recommendation off of the "tourist ant trail" as we call it. I wish I could have a personal tour like this in every City that I visit!

The walking tour of Jaisalmer Fort was a fantastic experience for me . For Bengalis , visiting the Jaisalmer Fort or Sonar Kella(in Bengali) is almost like a pilgrimage and it was only made better by this tour. For those who come to see the Fort because of the Sonarkella movie , they would undoubtedly leave with greater admiration of the Fort and the people who lived and still live in it. This magic spell was casted by the beautiful fort and our awesome tour guide Lalit Ji , who makes us feel as if we are walking down the pathways , 800 years back in time. My favourite part of the tour was him explaining the air ventilation system of the fort , near the entry. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience the fort in its full grandeur .
