  • Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir, Iceland
    During our first stop we retrace the footsteps of ancient Vikings by visiting the Þingvellir National Park. In 930 AD the country's first natonal assembly was established there by Iceland's early settlers. Þingvellir is also where the American and Eurasian continental plates are dramatically pulling apart at an annual rate of 2 cm.   • Strokkur, Selfoss, Iceland
    From there we move on to see the world famous Geysir – where the ground trembles and steaming hot water spouts spectacularly skywards from the famous Strokkur Geyser every few minutes.

    From there we visit the dramatic Gullfoss Waterfall, a breathtaking sight to behold. Here a powerful glacial river cascades down 32 meters on two levels into a deep narrow canyon with a thunderous roar.

  • Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin, Fludir, Iceland
    The last stop on our tour, and the most relaxing, is the Secret Lagoon. Whatever the weather it's the perfect spot for relaxing in between sightseeing and enjoying Icelandic nature at its very best. Indeed, the geothermal hot water is a hidden treat that Icelanders have been enjoying for generations! Around the Secret Lagoon, you find several hot spots. A path has been built so you can have a closer look at the bubbling hot springs and a little Geysir even erupts every 5 minutes, showing off for the guests bathing in the hot spring.

  • Dress according to weather: In Iceland it is always wise to dress in warm, waterproof clothes. Weather changes can be sudden so expect the unexpected. Bring a waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good outdoor shoes are recommended

We were left behind at our last stop at the Secret Lagoon. All the previous stops our tour guide would give us an exact time to be back on the bus and would do a head count against his attendance sheet. The last stop (Secret Lagoon) he said another bus would be back to get us all (around 40 people) in 2 hours; no exact time given this time. He said an "announcement" would be made at the time of pick up. Well there was no announcement and when my partner and I made it out of the dressing rooms we had apparently missed the bus by 7 minutes. There ended up being another couple that were left behind also. The receptionist called the company for us and had to argue with them to turn the bus around. The tour guide (which was another person this time) tried to say we weren't apart of the group... well about 20 mins later the bus showed back up and the new tour guide came in saying we were late, in a very rude demeaner. After getting in the bus the other passengers said that the tour guide lady had been forcing people to get on the bus early before the 2 hours were up and that we weren't late. Other than being left behind and stranded in a foreign country by a company that should be better accountable for their patrons, we had a really good time Morale of the story, when they say 2 hours, be ready in 90mins.

The ease and organization of the trip. Our guide was wonderful and very informative. We had wonderful weather which made the sightseeing spectacular. Ending the in the pool was fabulous

Il buongiorno si vede dal mattino… ed infatti il transfert dall’aeroporto è arrivato con una buona mezz’ora di ritardo, lasciandoci ad aspettare all’aperto con temperature e vento tutt’altro che gradevoli (31/01). Dopo averci lasciati al terminal a Reykjavik, il piccolo bus arancione che ci preleva ci lascia alla fermata predestinata (fermata pubblica) indicandola come bus stop n.1. Autista tra l’altro piuttosto burbero e di poche parole. Il secondo bus per la Sky lagoon, stavolta di colore verde, arriva ancora con circa 25 minuti di ritardo alla stessa fermata (pubblica) in cui eravamo stati lasciati il giorno prima. A nulla serve telefonare per avere info (e pagare la telefonata perché risponde subito una segreteria) perché tanto non rispondono, quando mandi mail ti rispondono che devi aspettare! Se ci metti che ti danno sempre un arco temporale di 30 minuti in cui devi essere pronto per il pick-up in mezzo alla strada, fa in totale circa un’ora in cui sei fermo al freddo ad aspettare il bus. Ma ok. Il terzo bus è stato il top! Dopo che l’autista del giorno prima ci aveva assicurato che sarebbe stato verde, arriva bianco, dall’altra parte della strada e al buio (perché in inverno la luce la vedi verso le 10). L’autista non si degna di cercare le persone che mancano all’appello (che che sono solo dall’altro lato della strada) e se ne va. Risultato siamo rimasti senza gita, con un’ora di gelo e pioggia ad aspettare, e la compagnia (che ha ricevuto fin dalla mattina le mie email nelle quali chiedevo che fine avesse fatto il nostro bus) si rifiuta di rimborsare perché “noi eravamo assenti” alla fermata giusta (che nessuno si è mai degnato di indicarci con precisione). Ogni volta un bus di colore diverso, mai con il nome della compagnia indicato (a differenza di tutte le altre agenzie, almeno all’apparenza decisamente più professionali e puntuali) sempre in ritardo rispetto all’arco temporale indicato, autisti burberi e scarsa serietà nel fornire assistenza, indicazioni precise e giusto rimborso per un servizio non prestato. In sintesi vi consiglio di scegliere altrove per le vostre gite in Islanda!
