So for our honeymoon, my wife and I decided to come out to Iceland for the winter, in hopes that we might see the Northern Lights. We stayed in Reykjavik the first few days, and slowly everything was getting cancelled due to the crazy blizzards and weather. When we were ready to go drive down to Vik, Kristjan picked us up in his truck and single handedly saved the entire trip.
He was very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable about the history of everything with Iceland and knew all the best spots to see. Importantly, he was extremely safe on the treacherous roads, and highly experienced with any of the weather and conditions that faced us. More importantly, he had made our desire come try by helping us see the Northern Lights. I am now convinced that the Northern Lights are not based on luck, but perseverance of the cold weather, and patience for breaking in the cloud cover, as one night Kristjan casually remarked, "I think we will get the lights tonight" and he was right.
Do yourself a favor, and do not bother with renting a car, you will likely get trapped on the side of the road, while someone else is having an amazing experience with Mountain Taxi. 30 years of experience will make a huge difference, even if you have him booked for just 3 hours.
