Snorkeling in a fissure caused by two tectonic plates drifting apart is something you can't do everyday! Silfra is the name of a big 'crack' stretching parallel to the North American and a micro-plate called Hreppar that broken off from the Eurasian plate. Silfra has world-renowned clear and drinkable water with over 100 metre visibility daily. This is unlike any tour you can do in Iceland and is something you can't do anywhere else in the world. We are the only company to offer wetsuit and drysuit. This means members of your group can book different options and still be together in the water. We include photos and usually take around 40-100 photos as standard depending on the size of the tour and you will be able to download them after at least a few days. We always have small groups, 6 people per guide. This allows for a better and more personal feel. If you have a group of 7 or more you can be together preparing your equipment but in the water some of you will be separate.

  • Be at minimum 150cm (4’9) tall / maximum 200cm (6’7) tall, and be at minimum 50kg (99 lbs) / maximum 120kg (264 lbs)
  • Don't wear glasses, instead bring contact lenses or your own prescription mask (if you have one)
  • Recommended to bring a change of clothes (the drysuit has a very small chance of leaking)

  • All participants heights, weights and age must be provided to local operator. If you do not provide at time of booking, please contact supplier immediately after booking to provide this information
  • We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks a a base layer under the drysuit.
  • Please dress according to weather - no heals or jeans
  • All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. Please find a link to the medical statement on your ticket voucher.
  • Note: Each guide can assist one group of up to six participants at a time. Up to three different groups can be present during this activity.
  • Make sure to eat breakfast before this activity
  • Not recommended for people with claustrophobia (Wetsuit can be a better option if you are)
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

War super. Guides waren super nett und offen. @Bjarni Ist wirklich zu empfehlen. Man sollte genügend warme Kleidung anziehen (am besten Termounterwäsche). Es ist aber auch bei schlecht Wetter gut machbar.

Make sure you understand the International airport is not Reykjavik Domestic. It will cost you extra if you confuse the two. The tour was awesome, the guides friendly and took care of everyone. Yes the water is cold. You have a dry suit and another layer they give you in addition to the layer you have on. A little water does get on your hands and your face will go numb. Great experience overall!!

I was apprehensive about the activity but loved it. I’m so pleased that we booked it. Our guide knew that I was unsure and kept checking on me all of the time. I felt safe and had a wonderful experience. The water did not even feel cold - the dry suits are amazing. Wear thermals underneath and you will be fine.
