    Volcano House is a geology museum in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. It is the place to find out everything about eruptions, volcanoes, tectonic shifts, and the unique Icelandic nature. Our staff are very friendly and knowledgeable so they will try answer any questions related to Iceland´s unique geological structure. Ask the staff for a tour around the exhibition! The exhibition features a highly regarded mineral collection and a display area of the most iconic eruptions in recent history, creating a setting which is equally aesthetic as it is informative. The show features two films about the country's most famous eruptions, the Eyjafjallajökull 2010 and the Westman Islands 1973 eruptions. Riveting images allow you to travel back in time to witness the destruction caused by these natural phenomenon. Showtimes are every hour, on the hour, from 09:00 AM until 9:00 PM. The ticket serves as an open voucher so feel free to arrive at your convenience. Please note that occasionally we have private group bookings, in that case you will have to join the next screening. There’s a small museum type exhibition outside the main theatre room which shows 2 documentaries; both are really interesting. We took teenagers but I think smaller children would get bored as its 53 minutes long

There’s no surprises here: an hour long show split into two separate movies and a small museum. Interesting to see on a rainy day but probably not my first choice of activities if I’m in Reykjavík.

Lovely little museum, the video on the eruptions was very informative in a lovely little theatre. Staff were very helpful and very knowledgable. I learnt a lot here.
