On the South Coast and Glacier Lagoon Tour you will spend the day experiencing firsthand the invigorating diversity of the Icelandic landscape. From views of Vatnajokull glacier, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls to the sparkling hunks of ice found on the Diamond Beach at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. On your way to the glacier lagoon, you will pass through the South Coast region of Iceland, a land of magnificent waterfalls, striking black sands, massive glaciers and volcanoes interspersed with farms. You will have unforgettable views of Skaftafell wilderness area in Vatnajokull National Park and drive through the starkly beautiful black sand expanse of Skeidararsandur. Just before reaching the lagoon you will also have a view of Iceland’s largest active volcano, Oraefajokull.

From there is an easy walk down to the Diamond Beach where you can see icebergs that have washed up on the black sand beach, glittering in the sun like jewels.

Of the many things I did in Iceland this was up there as one of the highlights along with the Ice caves. The tour guides in Iceland are all excellent bursting with enthusiasm, energy, knowledge, and all were extremely friendly. Karen Sigurdardottir was our guide for this particular excursion and was, amongst all the other tour guides we encountered, the best one going above and beyond to make this a great experience. The drive to the Glacial Lagoon is long but has so much beautiful scenery to take in. There are opportunities for photos etc (and of course toilet breaks!). Water proofs are a must if you dont want to get drenched by the waterfalls en route. At the Glacial Lagoon and Diamond Beach itself it was amazing with great scenery. Would 100% do this again possibly in the winter months.

This trip provides the opportunity to see a lot of Iceland's natural features. My particular interest in taking the trip was to see Diamond Beach. This is a really long day and we did it in terrible weather, but out guide Roman did a great jov of maneuring us around the bad weather as much as possible to visit the sites on the tour. I highly recommend the trip. I had previously visited Iceland and taken the popular Golden Circle Tout.
