Normads provided an interesting and insightful commentary as he drove us between the castles through the Latvian countryside. The trip is at your own pace allowing to spend time at locations of greatest interest. In the castles you pay your own entrance and are self guided. A very enjoyable day learning of Latvian history and culture.

Normunds was our guide, was also our window into history of Latvia. As we drove from Riga to the castle and palace, he shared his wealth of knowledge about his country as well as his everyday life as Latvian. We learned about life before freedom and after the removal of soviet rule and the impact of the current Rus-Ukr conflict on Latvia. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with him at a cat themed bistro near the Rundale Palace.
