The self driving tour of Rocky Mountain National Park offered a good starting point as we were new to the area. We drove Trail Ridge Rd. (not for the faint of heart... breath taking views, high elevation! Make sure to purchase a "timed entry" ticket ahead of time if you want to go into the park before 2 p.m. They may sell out and then you have to wait until 2 p.m. to enter.
